The Student Governments at Montclair State University and Bloomfield College of Montclair State University empower students to lead, advocate and shape their campus experience. Across both campuses, the respective Student Governments serve as the official voice of students, working closely with University leadership to advocate and elevate student needs, support organizations and enhance campus life. Both are here to support you, amplify your voice and help you make the most of your experience at Montclair.

Involvement with Student Government means:

Two Campuses, One Purpose

Each campus has its own Student Government, designed to meet the unique needs of its student body while sharing a common goal of student advocacy, leadership and engagement.

Across both campuses, Student Government:

  • Represents student voices and advocates for change
  • Oversees and supports student organizations
  • Allocates funding and manages budgets
  • Plans events and enhances campus life
  • Creates opportunities for leadership and involvement

Town Halls and meetings provide space for organizations and students to raise concerns, share ideas and collaborate on solutions.

Montclair Campus Student Government Association Inc.

A student-run, non-profit organization managing a $1.8 million budget, Montclair’s SGA combines governance and programming to support student life and campus initiatives.

  • Structured into three branches: Executive, Legislative and Judicial
  • Oversees 150+ student organizations
  • Partners with University administration to advocate for students

Two major programming boards bring campus life to the forefront:

  • Student Life At Montclair (SLAM): Large-scale events like formals and concerts.
  • Players: Theatrical programming, including campus productions and performances.

Bloomfield Campus Student Government

Bloomfield’s Student Government serves as a liaison between students, faculty and administration, while fostering leadership and involvement across campus.

  • Oversees student clubs and organizations
  • Hosts programming including trips, performances, cultural events and more
  • Provides a platform for student voices and campus-wide collaboration

The Montclair Campus SGA office offers a variety of services for students, including:

  • Free faxing and notary services
  • Limited copies
  • Free coffee, tea, hot chocolate and water
  • Free condoms
  • Free feminine hygiene products
  • Stamps available for purchase
