The College for Education and Engaged Learning (CEEL) at Montclair State University is dedicated to preparing aspiring teachers, administrators, and other education professionals for success. Grounded in a commitment to promoting equity and embracing innovation, the College has a rich history of delivering exceptional programs in the field. Our graduates are prepared to drive positive change throughout their careers, adapting to evolving educational issues and practices along the way.

Academic Programs
Our programs combine specialized coursework and hands-on training to prepare future educators, counselors, and administrative professionals to make an impact in today’s educational landscape.
Academic Departments
The College for Education and Engaged Learning offers diverse programs across three departments, preparing educators and advancing research, practice, and policy.
Educational Foundations
The Department of Educational Foundations offers courses that examine the role and influence of education across social, political, linguistic, and cultural contexts.
Educational Leadership
The Department of Educational Leadership includes Master of Arts (M.A.) and certification programs for aspiring leaders and administrators in both PK-12 and Higher Education settings.
Teaching and Learning Department
The Department of Teaching and Learning prepares educators for equity-focused practice through critical, research-informed teaching that connects classroom work with broader sociopolitical contexts.
CEEL Center Consortium
The CEEL Center Consortium, launched in 2025 within Montclair State University’s College for Education and Engaged Learning, serves as a single access point to a full spectrum of educational services and expertise.
As New Jersey’s one-stop educational partner, the Consortium supports learning across the lifespan, from early childhood through K–12, educator preparation, professional development, research, program evaluation, technology integration, family support, and community partnerships.
The Consortium's Centers
ADP Center for Learning Technologies
We are a model hub for educational technology, serving faculty, staff, community educators, and students. Our space includes classrooms, labs, studios, and collaborative areas. We also offer professional development through workshops, seminars, and conferences.
Ben Samuels Children's Center
We provide a model of excellence in inclusive early care and education. Our staff implements best practices in teaching and learning to serve children aged 12 weeks to 5 years old. We uphold a standard of excellence in inclusive early care and education.
Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health (CAECMH)
We are dedicated to the well-being of children and families by providing therapy, support, and services. We provide professional development for professionals and coursework for students pursuing careers in early relational health and maternal-infant health. Our staff conducts research and offers systems-level consultation throughout New Jersey to help children thrive.
Center for Educational Innovation and Strategic Partnerships (CEISP)
We partner with school districts and education-based organizations in New Jersey and beyond. We provide continuing education and professional development to educators, supporting and enhancing their performance, innovation, and creativity.
Center for Research and Evaluation on Education and Human Services (CREEHS)
We are a research and evaluation center committed to “helping people who help people” in the areas of education, public health, and human services. We partner with state agencies, school districts, colleges and universities, and community nonprofits.
Center for Student Success and Educator Excellence (CSSEE)
We are a comprehensive resource for students at every stage of their academic career. Our staff offers advising and guidance to support academic and career development opportunities. We also provide dedicated support for first-year teachers.
