Montclair Essentials: Informational Session for New Instructors
We invite faculty new to teaching at Montclair to this 90-minute information session. We will orient faculty in navigating the University and its systems. We will introduce you to key resources related to teaching: using the Montclair Syllabus, anchoring course plans with course objectives and learning outcomes, finding resources to support teaching excellence, and supporting students through the Strong Student Campaign.
Summer Research and Writing Group
Looking for some company and accountability as you research and write this summer? This group is designed for faculty of all ranks who wish to work on a research or writing project, new or already in-progress, and would like the accountability of a writing group. We will meet on the hour to say hello and set goals, and then write quietly together via Zoom with a break midway through and time to check in to celebrate work done at the end. Breakout rooms will be available to brainstorm ideas. Sign up for the series and then join those Wednesdays that you are able.
Adjunct Orientation: Required Information Session for New Adjunct Faculty
All new adjunct instructors are required to attend a 75-minute online orientation provided by OFE in collaboration with the Montclair Adjunct Union. This orientation covers the essential details of working and teaching at Montclair, and offers you the opportunity to connect with a faculty developer in OFE as well as other new adjunct instructors on campus. Bring your questions!
Do-It-Now: Building Your AI Policy
Starting in Fall 2026, the Montclair Syllabus template will include a field that prompts faculty to add their AI policy. Faculty will be able to choose from three policy options or write their own.This session moves from conversation to action, helping faculty choose or craft a syllabus AI policy that is right for their discipline, course, and teaching practice. We will also work on ways to draw on your syllabus policy to continue the conversation about AI in your classroom and facilitate students’ AI literacy skills.
Canvas Support
Build your Canvas skills before the semester begins with a series of online workshops covering course setup, syllabus creation, assignments and grading, quizzes, interactive activities, and course design. Sessions are designed for faculty at different experience levels, with multiple opportunities to attend foundational Canvas training.
