Montclair Named New Operator of New Jersey’s Public Television Stations
The University and its College of Communication and Media will manage NJ PBS beginning July 1, 2026. The selection brings public media back home to New Jersey with broadcast-ready facilities, a statewide journalism network, and a fiscally responsible plan built for the long term.
Four Academic Departments
Animation, Film, and TV Department
The Animation, Film, and Television programs bring together storytellers, content creators, and media innovators. Students gain hands-on experience in directing, writing, cinematography, editing, and animation, working with professional-grade equipment from day one.
Communication and Media Studies Department
The Department of Communication and Media Studies explores how communication shapes politics, relationships, health, and issues of race and gender. Students build skills in message strategy, data analytics, and media production alongside critical thinking frameworks.
Journalism and Sports Media
Two majors, Journalism and Digital Media and Sports Communication, prepare students as storytellers and critical thinkers. Faculty bring professional experience and ongoing research to the classroom.
Strategic Communication Department
Our programs span advertising campaign development, public relations strategy, and related communication disciplines. Students train with industry-standard tools and facilities, faculty bring direct professional experience to the classroom, and graduates carry that preparation into careers across the field.
