Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) supports your mental health, well-being and success at Montclair State University on both of our beautiful campuses. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stressed or just need someone to talk to, you’re not alone. CAPS offers free, confidential services to help you navigate challenges and take care of yourself. Our services are free and completely confidential for all enrolled students.

What We Do

CAPS provides free personal counseling and psychological services for Montclair State University students, along with consultation and referrals for faculty and staff.

This Includes Support For:

  • Campus-wide wellness through programs and events

CAPS is fully accredited by the International Accreditation of Counseling Centers (IACS).

Make an Appointment

Getting started with CAPS is simple.

Montclair Campus: Call 973-655-5211 to schedule a 30-minute intake appointment.

Bloomfield Campus: Call 973-655-2800 to schedule a 30-minute intake appointment or complete Referral Form

During your intake, a CAPS staff member will learn more about your concerns and talk through options for support.

Based on your needs, you may be connected to short-term individual counseling, group therapy, referrals to off-campus providers or other campus resources like Let’s Talk. You’ll receive follow-up instructions and paperwork before your first session.
