Concerned About a Student

If you’re worried about a student but it is NOT an emergency, you can report your concern so support can be provided.

Important: The CARE Team is not for emergencies. For urgent situations, call University Police at 973-655-5222.

Training and Prevention

CAPS offers training opportunities to help you recognize and respond to students in distress.
 

Learn how to identify warning signs, understand risk and protective factors, and connect someone to help. This training is recommended annually for all community members.

An eight-hour certification that teaches you how to respond to mental health and substance use concerns. Certification lasts three years.

In-person workshops are available for students, faculty and staff to learn how to recognize distress and refer individuals to support.
