The Pillars of Greek Life

Academic Excellence

Academic Excellence reflects the commitment of our community to prioritizing education and personal growth. Members are encouraged to take pride in their academic achievements while supporting one another in reaching their goals. Through access to campus resources, academic programming and a culture that values learning, students are empowered to excel both inside and outside the classroom. This pillar represents the idea that success starts with a strong academic foundation.

Leadership Development

Leadership Development highlights the opportunities students have to grow into confident and capable leaders. Whether through holding positions within their organization, getting involved across campus, or attending leadership programs, members are constantly building skills that will serve them well beyond college. This pillar focuses on helping students find their voice, take initiative and make meaningful contributions to their communities.

Civic Engagement

Civic Engagement showcases the dedication of our community to giving back and making a difference. Students actively participate in service initiatives, philanthropic efforts and community-based programs that extend beyond campus. This pillar reflects a shared commitment to social responsibility and encourages members to engage with causes they are passionate about while creating a positive impact.

Connection and Belonging

Connection and Belonging is at the heart of the student experience, emphasizing the importance of building meaningful relationships and feeling a sense of home on campus. Through involvement in events, traditions and collaborative efforts, students form lasting connections with one another and the broader community. This pillar represents an inclusive environment where everyone is valued, supported and encouraged to be their authentic self.

Career Readiness

Career Readiness focuses on preparing students for life after graduation by helping them develop the skills and experiences needed for future success. Through leadership opportunities, hands-on involvement and personal development, members gain confidence in their abilities and clarity in their goals. This pillar ensures that students leave their college experience not only with memories, but with the tools to thrive in their careers and beyond.

Meet Our Councils & Organizations

All recognized organizations are part of one of five governing councils, each offering a unique experience and community.

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) at Montclair State University advances fraternity life by supporting the success and well-being of its member chapters. IFC provides leadership through advocacy, marketing, collaboration, and education, promoting the value of the fraternity experience while fostering a unified community. It also upholds accountability through a fair, peer-led process grounded in shared values, while respecting each chapter’s ability to govern itself. Follow @montclair_ifc.
