Common Financial Aid Questions

Complete the FAFSA, typically available each year in October. You will need an FSA ID to submit your application.

Apply for Aid

Most undergraduate students must include parent information unless they meet federal criteria for independence.

You will receive a FAFSA Submission Summary. Montclair will use this information to determine your eligibility.

If you used the proper school code 002617 while filling out the FAFSA, Montclair will automatically receive your application!

  • New students typically receive offers beginning in late fall.
  • Continuing students receive updates after spring grades are posted and documents are processed.

Aid appears as estimated first and disburses after the add/drop period and academic engagement is completed.

Academic Engagement must be completed in Canvas for each one of your registered classes, each semester.

Common additional reasons for a hold up include missing documents, incomplete loan steps or enrollment changes.

You can submit a Request for Review if you experience changes such as loss of income or unexpected expenses.

Common Registration Questions

Please Note: Registration times are based on credits earned. Current classes do not count in credits earned since grades have not yet be finalized.
