You are responsible for paying your student account balance in full by the published due date each semester. Your bill may include tuition, fees, housing, meal plans and other charges based on your enrollment and activity.

Your bill is available in NEST and updates in real time.

How to Pay

All online payments are made through NEST via TouchNet.

  • Electronic check (no fee)
  • Credit or debit card (processing fee applies)
  • Real-time payment confirmation
  • Access to payment history

Credit and debit card payments are not accepted in person. These must be completed online.

You can also pay with:

  • Cash (in person only at Red Hawk Central)
  • Check or money order (U.S. bank only)

Checks must be made payable to Montclair State University and include your CWID number.

If you are an international student, you can make payments through PayMyTuition using NEST.

This service allows you to:

  • Pay in your local currency
  • Use international bank transfers or cards

Payment Plans

Payment plans are available each semester through TouchNet and allow you to split your balance into monthly payments.

  • $30 enrollment fee
  • One plan per semester
  • Installments are scheduled automatically
  • Plans adjust if your account balance changes
  • Past due balances must be resolved before you can enroll
  • Payments must be made on time to avoid late fees
  • Missed payments may result in plan termination and holds on your account

Late Fees and Holds

If your balance remains unpaid, your account may be referred to a collection agency and additional fees may apply.

If your bill is not paid by the due date:

  • A one-time late fee of $150 may be applied
  • A financial hold may be placed on your account
  • Registering for courses
  • Requesting transcripts
  • Viewing grades
  • Receiving your diploma

Returned Payments

If a payment is returned or rejected (including e-checks), the following will apply:

  • A $60 returned payment fee
  • Reversal of your original payment
  • A hold on your account

You will need to submit a replacement payment immediately to avoid further penalties.

  • International Student Fee: $100
  • Senior Citizen Learning Program: $40.00

Student Health Insurance

  • Full Year: $2,940
  • Half Year: $1,812

Important Billing Notes

  • Bills are posted in NEST and are not mailed home
  • Invoices are emailed to your Montclair email twice per month
  • You are responsible for monitoring your account regularly
  • Adding courses after the due date requires payment within 48 hours
  • Financial aid and schedule changes may impact your balance
