Textbooks & Course Material

Looking for the textbooks and materials you need for your classes? Montclair State University offers resources to help you find and access required course materials. Whether you’re exploring options for purchasing, renting or going digital, we’ve got the tools and information to make sure you’re prepared for success in the classroom.

For Students

Order your textbooks with ease through Follett by searching with your CWID or course ID. Choose convenient pickup or delivery to get ready for the semester.

We understand that the cost of textbooks can be a significant barrier to academic success. That’s why Montclair and Follett are proud to offer various textbook grant resources, designed to ease the burden of textbook expenses. Eligible students can apply for a grant of up to $250.00 per year.

Please note: Funds provided by Follett for the textbook scholarship can only be used to purchase books directly from the bookstore.

Follow these steps to see if you are eligble for a textbook grant.
1.) Login to Engage using your Montclair State University NetID and password.
2.) Enter Dean of Students in the search bar and navigate to the Dean of Students Organization portal.
3.) Check out the available textbook grant programs listed under the Forms heading.
 

For Faculty & Academic Departments

Order Online Using Follett Discover

Follett Discover is a comprehensive set of online tools where faculty can research, discover, and adopt course materials with ease. Follett Discover has been integrated into the University learning management system, Canvas.

This streamlined process ensures you have the right materials for your students, whether you’re selecting new editions, opting for digital resources, or choosing textbook rentals.

To Begin Using Follett Discover

  1. Log into Canvas with your NetID and password.
  2. Once logged into Canvas, click on the “Discover” tab on the left side of the Canvas dashboard.
  3. Discover will bring you to your Discover home page that will list the courses you are actively teaching for the upcoming term.
  4. Use the “Discover Course Materials” tool to start searching for course materials for registered courses.
  5. Once you have found course material you would like to adopt, select the material, select the material usage from the drop-down menu, and click “Adopt.”
  6. With options like Add Title, Add From Library, Add My Content, Create Content, and Discover Course Materials, you can add materials not found in the Discover library, adopt saved materials, add your own content (including OER materials), create course packs with XanEdu, or continue to discover course materials.

  • Your course information, e.g., Math 100-2.
  • The ISBN, author, title, and publisher.

 

Through the ACCESS program, all required course materials are provided to students on or before the first day of class. In most cases, materials are provided digitally inside the campus learning management system (LMS), offering students maximum convenience and cost savings.

Commencement Regalia

Regalia is required for all students participating in Commencement and must be purchased in advance of the ceremony. Regalia will not be available for purchase at Commencement.

Only Montclair State University approved academic regalia is permitted. This includes cap, gown, hood (hoods are only for doctoral and masters candidates), Montclair State University zipper pull and approved stoles, cords, and pins.

A Montclair State University zipper pull is included in all regalia packages. Attach the zipper pull to your regalia to show off your Montclair pride at Commencement! After Commencement, you can fit on your key chain, jacket, gym bag, or suitcase, bringing your love of Montclair everywhere you go.
