Community Services

Office of Community Engagement and Partnerships

In 2023, President Koppell established the Office of Community Engagement and Partnerships (OCEP) as Montclair State University's central hub for community engagement. We work across the entire University to connect campus resources, knowledge, and people with the communities we serve. We do this by listening to community-identified needs then developing meaningful actions, and by providing support services to students, faculty and staff engaged in meaningful outreach.

Our Purpose

The Office of Community Engagement and Partnerships is responsible for five core undertakings:

  • Advancing the University's commitment to community engagement
  • Ensuring Montclair University serves as a partner and resource to the region and state of New Jersey
  • Coordinating the University's response to issues and concerns identified by the communities we serve
  • Supporting faculty and staff in developing and delivering effective, lasting outreach and engagement activities
  • Educating, empowering, and inspiring students to become informed, engaged citizens through meaningful participation in community engagement and public service programs.

To accomplish this, our team works closely with every major division of the University and brings together community-focused programs from across both academic departments and student life.
