Montclair State University students, faculty and staff can donate gently used winter coats and jackets through the Coats for Citation Drive, which supports Rocky’s Closet. Participants can donate one eligible coat in exchange for the dismissal of one eligible open campus parking citation.

How It Works

Each gently used coat or jacket counts toward one open citation. For example, one eligible coat can be used to resolve a $60 parking citation.

Accepted Donations

  • Gently used winter coats and jackets in good condition

Items Not Accepted

  • Items with rips, stains or missing buttons or zippers
  • Items with damaged or nonfunctional zippers

Only one citation may be dismissed per coat, except during designated Red Hawk Pantry or Rocky’s Closet tabling events, when participants may be eligible to have two citations dismissed.

Where and When to Donate

Donations can be brought to the Montclair campus Parking Office, located on Level 1 of Red Hawk Deck, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the program period.

Additional tabling events will take place at the following locations:

  • Monday, November 9: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Student Center, Second Floor, Lobby
  • Tuesday, November 10: 12-2 p.m., Mailroom, University Facilities Building
  • Wednesday, November 11: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Bloomfield campus, Student Center
  • Thursday, November 12: 12-2 p.m., University Hall, First Floor

Citations That Are Not Eligible

The following violations cannot be dismissed through the Coats for Citation Drive:

  • Tampering with University equipment
  • Shared permit or boot violations
  • Parking in a reserved space, on grass or on a sidewalk
  • Parking in a fire lane or a space designated for people with disabilities (PWD)
