CCOM Facilities and Equipment
The College of Communication and Media's production facilities and equipment rental program give students, faculty, and staff access to industry-standard technology and professional production spaces. From fixed-set television studios and control rooms to a working newsroom, sound studios, and large-format presentation venues, these resources support coursework, student media productions, research, creative projects, and campus events.
Studios and Control Rooms
The CCOM Building houses three fixed-set television studios, each paired with its own inter-operational, high-definition control room. Because the control rooms are inter-operational, any control room can connect to any studio, giving productions flexibility in how they combine sets and technical crews.
Studio A
Studio A Control Room (Travis Studio)
The Travis Control Room is a three-deck control room and one of the building's inter-operational 4K control rooms, meaning it can connect to and live-edit video from any studio in the complex.
Studio B (Linda and George Hiltzik Studio)
This urban loft-style apartment set supports productions ranging from commercials and casual interviews to comedy and drama.
Studio B Control Room (Stasheff Studio)
The Stasheff Control Room is a two-deck control room and one of the building's inter-operational 4K control rooms.
Studio C
Studio C offers a flexible fixed set with the same core production capabilities as Studios A and B.
Studio C Control Room (Londino Studio)
The Londino Control Room is a three-deck control room and one of the building's inter-operational 4K control rooms.
Flash Studios
The building's flash studios connect "talking head" segments with remote or home studios and are located throughout the facility.
The vMix Studio
The vMix Studio is a multi-camera digital studio that one person can operate entirely on their own, making it possible to complete a production that would normally require a much larger crew. Feeds from the cameras, microphones, and other inputs are routed into vMix software, which supports recording and live streaming to platforms including Hawk+, the College's digital streaming service.
Newsroom
This large, fully customizable working newsroom supports everything from collaborative reporting to real-time news broadcasts, and doubles as a setting for staged news programming in film and television productions.
Radio and Podcast Studios
The radio and podcast studio seats four at the microphones, with an overflow room that accommodates up to four additional speakers.
Foley Sound Effects Studio
The Foley studio and control room are used to create the sound effects that bring stories to life, from thunderstorms and ocean waves to squealing car brakes and footsteps.
Audio Recording Studio and Control Room
This digital multi-track recording studio and control room is equipped to record everything from music albums to voiceovers.
Presentation Hall
This 193-seat theater is designed for conferences, seminars, training events, film festivals, and conventions.
Presentation Hall offers assistive listening receivers on site, or attendees can use their own device with the Listen Everywhere app.
Screening Theater
This 37-seat theater offers an intimate venue for screening everything from rough cuts to finished films.
