Welcome from the Dean

If there's one thing I hope you'll discover here, it's that the College of Communication and Media is a place where you don't have to wait to get started on your career. 

From your first semester, you'll find opportunities to create, collaborate, tell stories, solve problems, and gain real-world experience alongside classmates, faculty, alumni, and industry professionals. Whether your passion is journalism, sports communication, social media, filmmaking, television, public relations, advertising, communication studies, animation or emerging technologies, you'll find people who are eager to help you grow and expect you to get involved right away. 

One of the many things that makes CCOM special is our community. Students learn from professors and each other. You'll have access to the latest equipment the pros use and you can create content in our state-of-the-art studios. You'll see classmates working on film sets, producing live broadcasts, covering major events, creating podcasts, leading student media organizations, and collaborating on award-winning projects that make an impact on campus and beyond. That spirit of collaboration is part of our DNA.

You'll also have access to opportunities unique to CCOM, such as our Dreamscape Learn lab and Mentoring and Semester in L.A. programs. CCOM is also the new home of NJ PBS, and we have other exciting initiatives such as our partnership with NBC 4 / Telemundo 47.
