The CCOM Mentoring Program pairs top students with accomplished alumni and industry leaders for one-on-one guidance on interviewing, networking, resume building, and breaking into media careers.

A Direct Line to Working Media Professionals

The CCOM Mentoring Program connects students with mentors working across media, public relations, news, social media, marketing, production, and creative roles across the country. Each mentee is paired one-on-one with a mentor for the school year, with the relationship built around regular meetings, mock interviews, networking advice, and resume and cover letter feedback.

The program was founded by Professor Emeritus Marc Rosenweig and has grown steadily since its first cohort, now pairing more than 40 students with mentors each year. Many mentors are CCOM alumni, giving mentees a direct look at how a media career unfolds after graduation.

What Mentees Gain From the CCOM Mentoring Program

Mentees run through realistic interview scenarios with their mentor, building the confidence and polish needed for real job interviews.

One-on-one review sessions help mentees sharpen their materials before they ever reach a hiring manager.

Many mentors are CCOM alumni working at major media, sports, and entertainment companies.

Mentors introduce mentees to their own professional networks and coach them on how to build genuine industry connections.

Mentors share firsthand stories about their own career paths, including the detours and lucky breaks that shaped where they ended up.

Some former mentees return to the program as mentors themselves, building a growing community of alumni who give back.

How Students Join the CCOM Mentoring Program

The CCOM Mentoring Program is a prestigious, application-based opportunity. To apply, students must be eligible under the following requirements:

  1. Students entering their Junior or Senior year in Fall 2027
  2. Expected to graduate no later than May 2028
  3. Provide one faculty or staff reference

Applications for the 2027-2028 Mentoring Program have not been released. Check back for updates.
