Summer Housing

Summer housing at Montclair State University is available for current students continuing their academic experience and for approved summer interns working in the region. Whether you are taking classes, completing an internship or staying on campus between semesters, Residence Life offers convenient, flexible housing options.

Summer Housing for Montclair Students

The Office of Residence Life offers summer housing for current Montclair State University students enrolled in summer or fall courses. Housing is available primarily from May through early August, with specific dates outlined during the application process.

Assignments are made based on the order applications are received. Space is limited, and while preferences for building, room and roommates are considered, they are not guaranteed. A waitlist will be maintained if needed.

  • Apartments house up to 8 students

Rates

Summer housing rates vary by room type and location and are billed nightly.

Summer Housing Agreement

All students living on campus during the summer must sign the Summer Residence License Agreement. This is a legally binding agreement that outlines the terms and conditions of summer housing.

The agreement must be completed electronically through RMS within five (5) business days of receiving your housing assignment. Submission of an application does not guarantee placement, and students remain financially responsible unless officially released from the agreement by the University.

Intern Housing

Montclair State University also offers housing for summer interns working in and around the New York City area. This option is designed for students completing internships who need short-term housing during the summer months.

Eligibility

To apply for intern housing, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be currently enrolled at a college or university
  • Provide proof of enrollment
  • Submit a corporate sponsorship letter confirming your internship

Length of Stay

Minimum stay: 4 weeks
Maximum stay: 10 weeks

Costs & Payment

  • $200 non-refundable deposit required to reserve space
  • Full payment due by move-in
  • Applications submitted after May 1 require full payment at submission

Once payment is processed, you will receive your room assignment and a welcome email with move-in details.

Corporate Sponsorship

All interns must provide documentation from their employer confirming:

  • Internship position
  • Employment dates
  • Supervisor contact information

Sponsors may be contacted if policies are violated. If an internship ends early, interns must vacate housing within 48 hours and no refunds will be issued.
