Across campus, you’ll find painted rocks representing student organizations, departments and campus pride. It’s one of the most visible and creative ways students leave their mark on the University!

Want a Rock? Here's How!

Before painting anything, you need approval from the Office of Student Engagement.

Request a Rock on Engage

  • All rocks are University property
  • Submit a request through Engage before painting
  • You can request a new rock or repaint an existing one
  • Approved rocks must be painted within 30 days
  • Organizations can maintain up to five rocks
  • No painting in designated No Paint Zones (academic areas of campus)
  • Designs must follow University policies and be respectful
  • Rocks cannot be moved by organizations
  • Unmaintained rocks may be reassigned
