Campus Climate Assessment

Deepening diversity, enhancing equity, increasing inclusion and building belonging in the University community

Everyone who works, lives, learns, or engages with Montclair State University deserves to feel that their presence is valued, their experiences matter, and they have meaningful access to the opportunities, resources, and relationships that support success and belonging. Montclair has made important progress in advancing a welcoming, fair, and inclusive campus environment, and we recognize that this work requires ongoing reflection, assessment, and action.

The University will continue to build on its culture of assessment through the University Collaborative for Inclusive Excellence, in partnership with the Office of Inclusive Excellence. Together, we will conduct periodic campus climate assessments, listening sessions, and quantitative surveys to better understand the experiences of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other members of our campus community.

These efforts will help the University remain attentive to emerging needs, identify areas of strength and opportunity, and advance strategies that support a more inclusive and connected campus.

During the 2026–2027 academic year, Montclair will continue this important work with care, transparency, and a commitment to meaningful institutional progress.
