In New Jersey, you have multiple ways to vote, allowing you to choose the option that best fits your schedule. Whether you vote early in person, cast your ballot on Election Day, or vote by mail, every method provides an opportunity to make your voice heard and participate in the democratic process.

 
 

Where Should You Register?

You can register to vote using either your home address or your campus/off-campus address. If you're registered at home and won't be there on Election Day, request a mail-in ballot. If you're registered at your campus address, you'll vote locally.

Just remember, you can only be registered in one place at a time. Out-of-state students can choose to register in New Jersey or stay registered in their home state and vote absentee. Registering to vote in New Jersey does not affect your tuition, financial aid, or residency status.

Ways to Vote

There are several convenient ways to cast your ballot and make your voice heard in the election!

Voters can choose to vote by mail by requesting a mail-in ballot through the State of New Jersey and returning it by mail, secure drop box, or at their county Board of Elections office.

  • Mail: Must be postmarked by Election Day
  • Secure Drop Box: Submit by 8 p.m. on Election Day
  • Board of Elections Office: Return in person by 8 p.m. on Election Day

Early voting allows residents to vote in person before Election Day at designated locations throughout their county, with flexible hours and no appointment required.

  • Sunday Hours available
  • Accessible for All Voters

On Election Day, registered voters can also cast their ballot at their assigned polling location based on their registration address. No matter which option you choose, participating in the election is an important way to have your voice heard.

If you register using your campus address, your polling location depends on your residence hall.
