What are Programming Boards?

The Student Government Association (SGA) Programming Boards bring campus life to the forefront at Montclair State University. Through large-scale events, performances and creative experiences, these student-led groups create opportunities for connection, entertainment and community.

Programming Boards are open to all students and offer opportunities to get involved, attend events and contribute to campus programming.

Student Life At Montclair (SLAM)

Student Life At Montclair (SLAM) is the primary programming board responsible for some of the University’s largest and most anticipated events. From major traditions to everyday campus experiences, SLAM focuses on creating accessible, high-energy programming for all students.

What SLAM Does

SLAM plans and coordinates large-scale events such as:

  • Homecoming Week
  • Winter Gala
  • Spring Bash
  • Live entertainment and campus-wide events

In addition to signature events, SLAM also hosts smaller, free programs throughout the semester designed to bring students together in fun and engaging ways.

At SLAM events, students can expect:

  • Free or low-cost experiences
  • Food, giveaways and prizes
  • Opportunities to connect with the campus community

Players

Players is Montclair’s student-run theater programming board, offering students the opportunity to create, perform and experience live productions on campus.

Founded in 1937, Players produces a wide range of performances each year, including:

  • Plays and musicals
  • Cabaret and improv shows
  • Dance and variety performances

One of its most well-known traditions is the annual shadow cast production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, a high-energy event known for audience participation and late-night performances.

Join Players

Players is open to all undergraduate students, regardless of major or experience. There are no auditions required to join, and students can get involved in a variety of roles, including:

  • Acting, singing and dancing
  • Directing and writing
  • Stage management and production
  • Lighting, sound, costume and set design
  • Marketing and event support

Whether you want to perform or simply attend shows, Players offers a space to explore creativity and be part of a collaborative community.
