Native American and Indigenous Studies (NAIS) Resources
Native American and Indigenous Studies (NAIS) is an interdisciplinary area of study that explores Indigenous histories, cultures, knowledge systems, and contemporary issues through scholarship, research, and community engagement. Centering Indigenous perspectives, it examines sovereignty, social justice, environmental stewardship, and cultural resilience while fostering a deeper understanding of Indigenous experiences and contributions.
Native American and Indigenous Studies (NAIS) Minor
The Native American and Indigenous Studies (NAIS) minor is an 18-credit interdisciplinary program open to all majors that explores Indigenous histories, cultures, and contemporary issues. Through coursework and community-engaged learning with New Jersey Indigenous communities, students gain hands-on experience in research, advocacy, environmental justice, and cultural preservation.

The New Jersey Center for Indigenous Justice (NJCIJ) is dedicated to advancing justice, visibility, and sovereignty for New Jersey’s state-recognized tribes through trust-based, community-engaged partnerships.
