The Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs is the chief academic officer and, in the absence of the President, serves as acting President. The Provost provides academic leadership and has overall responsibility for academic program development and faculty. As head of the Division of Academic Affairs, the Provost oversees the University libraries, colleges, schools and administrative units listed below.
Adminstrative Units
The Discovery Program supports exploratory undeclared students as they explore majors, careers and academic opportunities at Montclair. Through personalized advising, innovative programs and events, and career-focused resources, students gain the knowledge and confidence needed to choose a major and create a successful path forward.
The Graduate Center provides a central hub where students come together, access resources, and find encouragement to pursue their passions.
International Academic Initiatives is dedicated to supporting and promoting internationalization at Montclair State University, in cooperation with academic leaders, faculty, staff, partner offices on campus, student groups, international universities, and many entities and partners across campus and the world.

The Office for Faculty Excellence serves as a university-serving center that advances faculty excellence and success by supporting faculty as teachers, scholars, leaders, and members of an academic community.
In support of Montclair State University’s status as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), the Office for Hispanic Initiatives is dedicated to upholding the university’s allegiance to promoting an inclusive environment to support the success of all students, faculty and staff. These commitments also include support of scholarship and teaching to further our knowledge and understanding about Hispanics in New Jersey and the U.S. as an integral and vital component of the American social fabric, as well as to strengthen relationships with local families and communities.
The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness (OIRE) is dedicated to advancing the strategic objectives and mission of the University. As a pivotal resource, OIRE is entrusted with the execution of comprehensive research and the provision of critical data that underpin institutional and operational planning, informed decision-making, regulatory adherence, and policy formulation.
The Office of Research provides high-quality services to the University community to encourage, facilitate and support faculty, staff and students in their pursuit of new knowledge, understanding and creative endeavors. The Office assists in identifying funding opportunities for sponsored research, provides training workshops, assists in the preparation of external grant applications, and administers the non-financial aspects of awards while also protecting the University’s interests in assuring compliance with federal and state laws, rules and regulations.
The Office of the Registrar supports your academic journey by maintaining your records, managing registration and helping you stay on track toward graduation.
The Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) supports and advances student success through innovative programs, academic advising, strategic initiatives, and personalized support that enhance the undergraduate experience from enrollment to graduation. In addition to supporting students, OUE provides advising resources and support for faculty and staff and oversees Navigate, the university’s student success and care platform. Through initiatives like the Discovery Program and the Pre-Medical Program, OUE empowers students to explore their interests, achieve their academic and professional goals, and thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Colleges and Schools
Bloomfield College of Montclair State University offers more than 40 academic programs, Division II athletics, an active Greek life, and diverse co-curricular clubs and organizations. Long known as one of our nation’s most diverse liberal arts colleges and as New Jersey’s only four-year Predominantly Black Institution (PBI), Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and Minority Serving Institution (MSI), Bloomfield College’s nearly 1,000 students benefit from a personalized small campus experience tailored to individual student needs with attention from faculty who care, in combination with the benefits and resources of a large doctoral research university.
The College for Community Health is committed to teaching, research and service that promotes equitable healthcare and wellbeing for individuals, families, and communities in New Jersey and beyond. By transitioning from a School to a College on July 1, 2025, College of Communication and Media has increased national visibility, more opportunities for students, and additional leadership development opportunities for faculty and staff as part of New Jersey’s second-largest higher education institution.
