EOF Student Checklist

Now that you’ve been accepted to Montclair State, your next step is to enroll as a full-fledged Red Hawk.

Use the checklist below for guidance.

In addition to completing the steps on the Freshmen Student Checklist or Transfer Student Checklist, all accepted EOF students must also:

For Freshmen Students:

Complete the 2024-25 FAFSA for your mandatory Residential Summer Academy program (June 30, 2024 – July 31, 2024) online as soon as possible. We recommend that you use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to link, or transfer, your tax return information from the IRS website into your FAFSA. Montclair State’s school code is 002617.

For Freshmen and Transfer Students:

To receive final acceptance into the EOF program for the academic year and to be considered for federal and state financial aid, as well as any merit- or non-merit-based scholarships, you must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by March 1.

Be sure to review the Financial Aid Checklist to make sure you have completed all necessary steps and to keep your financial aid applications on track.

Foreign Language Placement Testing:

All students at Montclair State University must complete or transfer in 6 credits of world language coursework to meet graduation requirements. If you plan to continue studying a world language you have studied previously, you must complete the Foreign Language Placement Test. Learn more about the test.

Mathematics and Chemistry Placement Assessment:

Montclair State University requires the ALEKS Placement, Preparation, and Learning (ALEKS PPL) Assessment for students in certain majors to determine readiness for math courses. This web-based assessment identifies strengths and areas for improvement, providing an opportunity to review and reassess.

You should only be taking this assessment if you are a student in the following:

  • College of Science and Mathematics
  • Feliciano School of Business
  • Exercise Science Major
  • Pre-Med Program

You will receive an e-mail 2 days after paying your enrollment deposit if you are required to take the ALEKS assessment. Instructions will be included on how to access the exam.

All first-year students who are enrolling in the fall under the provisions of the EOF program are required to participate in an online mandatory Summer Academy from July-August. You will be contacted by Rahjaun Gordon gordonra@montclair.edu regarding specific orientation requirements for EOF. EOF Transfer Students should have the EOF Office at your current school submit a “Transfer of Aid” form to: Dr. Daniel Jean, Executive Director of EOF and Academic Development.
