AI Curricular Development Committee

The Curricular Development Committee examines how advances in artificial intelligence are reshaping disciplinary knowledge, curricular composition, and professional expectations. Its work focuses on developing definitions, mapping AI-related curricular activity across the University, and engaging faculty, students, and staff in conversations about the role of AI in the curriculum.

Work-in-Progress

The AI Curricular Development Committee’s current projects include:

  • supporting the Office of the Provost in the creation of an AI graduation requirement.
  • mapping AI and AI-adjacent courses across the Montclair and Bloomfield campuses and classifying them using these frameworks.
     

Key Outputs and Resources

  1. Definitional Frameworks for Foundational, Intermediate, and Advanced AI Skills. The Curricular Development Subcommittee, in collaboration with the AI Competency and Fluency Subcommittee, developed these definitions to guide faculty, students, and staff. While these definitions go through institutional review, members of the University community can follow the link above to familiarize themselves with the final draft (Montclair NetID required.)
