π Important Dates
Graduate school moves fast. Make sure youβre on track!
- Friday, September 4: Last day to add a Session A or Session B course, or drop a course at 100% adjustment.
- Monday, September 7: Labor Day. No classes held.
- Wednesday, September 9: Last day to drop a Session B course at 50% adjustment.
- Monday, September 14: Deadline to waive or purchase University health insurance.
- Thursday, September 24: Last day to drop a Session A course at 50% adjustment.
- Wednesday, September 30: Last day to enroll in the four-month tuition payment plan.
- Wednesday, September 30: Last day to withdraw from Session B.

- Week 1 β Set the Tone for Success: Arrive a few minutes early, put away distractions or try handwritten notes.
- Week 2 β Create a Keep-Going Plan: Block out time for coursework and breaks, identify what helps when you feel overwhelmed or choose someone you can check in with.
- Week 3 β Practice Effective Time Management: Review your schedule each week and use a calendar, to-do list or reminders to stay ahead.
- Week 4 β Seek Academic Feedback: Visit office hours, talk with a peer or connect with your advisor or another campus resource.
- Week 5 β Take Care of Your Health: Prioritize sleep, get some fresh air, connect with people you care about or use campus health and wellness resources.

Itβs normal to feel overwhelmed at the start of a new semester. If you could use a little extra support right now, free and confidential mental health resources are available.
- Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS): Free, confidential counseling and mental health support for Montclair students.
- Letβs Talk: Free, informal drop-in conversations with a CAPS counselor, available in person and online with no appointment required.
- Uwill Teletherapy: Free teletherapy for enrolled students, with flexible day, evening and weekend appointment options.
π‘ Did You Know?
Common Ground is a free four-week wellness program that can help you feel more connected, less stressed and better prepared to manage the demands of graduate school. Youβll build practical skills in self-care, stress management, time management and communication while connecting with other students.
The Fall session runs September 18-October 15, with several weekly meeting times available. Graduate students are encouraged to select the Friday, 4-5:15 p.m. group, led by graduate-level Peer Mentors, if it fits their schedule.
