Community Programs

The Montclair State University Police Department believes that a safe campus is built through collaboration, education and community partnerships. Our Community Programs team works with students, faculty and staff to provide safety education, crime prevention initiatives and outreach programs that strengthen relationships and promote a safer campus for everyone.

Education & Outreach

Our officers provide educational programs and presentations on a variety of topics, including:

  • Self-defense
  • Sexual assault prevention and resources
  • Online safety
  • Emergency preparedness and procedures
  • Campus safety
  • Residential and office safety surveys

These programs are available to student organizations, residence halls, academic departments and campus offices.

Committee on University Safety

The President's Committee on University Safety brings together students, employees and University Police to discuss campus safety concerns, strengthen communication and identify opportunities to improve the campus environment. The committee includes both the Student Safety Subcommittee and the Employee Safety Subcommittee. Community members are encouraged to share non-emergency safety concerns with their committee representative.

Office of Community Resilience & Officer Wellness

The Office of Community Resilience & Officer Wellness provides compassionate, trauma-informed support for victims and survivors while promoting wellness, resilience and prevention throughout the campus community.

Through advocacy, education and outreach, the office works to foster a campus culture built on respect, healing and safety.

SAFE (Support • Advocacy • Freedom Through Empowerment)

SAFE is a holistic program that provides trauma-informed services, advocacy and education for survivors while supporting the mental health and wellness of law enforcement professionals.

Services Include

Strength in Service

Strength in Service supports the mental health and well-being of law enforcement officers and first responders by addressing the unique challenges they experience throughout their careers.
