Accessibility and Support Services

The Disability Resource Center (DRC) is here to make sure you have equal access to everything Montclair offers, in the classroom and beyond.

Accommodations are set up on a case-by-case basis. You'll need documentation and an intake appointment with a DRC Counselor to get started. Everything below can be requested through AIM.

Academic Accommodations

Support for your coursework may include:

  • Additional time on exams
  • Note-taking assistance
  • Digital or audio books
  • Captioning or ASL interpreting
  • Early registration

Assistive Technology

Tools that work the way you do:

  • Screen readers and magnification tools
  • Dictation and text-to-speech software
  • Assistive listening devices
  • Digital recorders
  • Graphic organizing software

Housing Accommodations

Living on campus? Submit the Housing Accommodations Request Form with supporting documentation.

  • Single room housing
  • Adaptive furniture
  • Room location adjustments
  • Emotional support animals

 

Dining Accommodations

Have dietary needs tied to a disability or medical condition? Submit a request form and the DRC will coordinate with Dining Services and Residence Life.

Parking Accommodations

Submit the request form and documentation. Once approved, your parking is coordinated through Parking Services.

Pregnancy Accommodations

Pregnant or recovering from childbirth? Requests are reviewed case by case with documentation from your medical provider.

Testing Referrals

Think you may need a formal evaluation? The DRC can refer you to the Psychoeducational Services Clinic (PSC). Fees may apply.

PWD Shuttle

The Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Shuttle is a free curb-to-curb service run by Transportation Services. Use it to get to class, meals and University activities.

  • Complete the Red Hawk Access Request Form
  • Provide documentation
  • Get authorization from the DRC or the Student Health Center

Once you're authorized, schedule your ride at least 48 hours in advance through Transportation and Parking Services.

  • Runs Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Requests accepted 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Be on time. Drivers wait up to 3 minutes.
  • Up to 4 rides per day. No-shows count toward your daily limit.

 

Employees can also use the PWD Shuttle:

  • Complete the Red Hawk Access Request Form
  • Provide documentation from a physician
  • Get authorization through Human Resources

Visitors

Visitors with a state-issued placard or license plate may park in accessible spaces across campus, including Red Hawk Deck and metered areas.
