MIX Lab

The Mix Lab is Montclair State University's interdisciplinary innovation research hub, housed in the Feliciano School of Business.

MIX stands for Making and Innovating for X, where X is the unknown: the future, hard problems, and the open-ended nature of creativity and good design. The lab is co-directed by Iain Kerr, Associate Professor of Innovation Design, and Jason Frasca, Associate Teaching Professor of Entrepreneurship.

Open since 2015, the MIX Lab is the flagship makerspace at Montclair State University. A fleet of 36 networked Bambu Lab X1 Carbon 3D printers is open and free to every MSU student and faculty member to design, prototype, and make original work.

The lab is the home of the Innovation & 3D Printing certificate and supports entrepreneurship students across the School of Business. It serves the wider university and region through externships, community programs, and K-12 outreach. It is where creative experiments become real, and where making becomes entrepreneurial capability.
