Compliance Reporting

The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness (OIRE) serves as the primary contact for compliance reporting to state, federal, and accrediting agencies for Montclair State University and Bloomfield College of Montclair State University.

IPEDS is the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System. It is a system of interrelated surveys conducted annually by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). Montclair State University reports data on enrollments, program completions, graduation rates, faculty and staff, finances, institutional prices, and student financial aid. The completion of all IPEDS surveys is mandatory for institutions that participate in or are applicants for participation in any federal student financial aid program.

The Student Unit Record (SURE) data is the backbone of New Jersey’s higher education analytics, enabling smarter decisions, better student outcomes, and more efficient operations. As a New Jersey public university, Montclair State University is required to send the SURE data files to the State annually. We report data on enrollments, program completions and student financial aid.

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) accreditation is critically important because it validates the quality and integrity of higher education institutions, ensures eligibility for federal funding, and promotes continuous institutional improvement. It signals to students, employers, and the public that the institution meets rigorous standards of academic and operational excellence. OIRE supports MSCHE accreditation by providing data regarding student enrollment, program completions, graduation rate, faculty and staff.
