Graduate Assistantships

Graduate assistantships give faculty and staff the opportunity to work with graduate students who can support meaningful work across academic programs, research initiatives, student services and administrative operations. These roles help departments build capacity while giving students valuable professional experience connected to their graduate education.

Micro-Internships

The Graduate Student Micro-Internship Program allows University units to host short-term, project-based roles that support department goals while giving graduate students hands-on professional experience. Projects are designed to be completed within one semester and may include data analysis, web or content development, communication campaigns, event planning or other skill-based work. Approved projects receive funding support from the Graduate Center for the student intern’s compensation.

Student Tracking Systems

Our graduate student tracking systems help faculty and staff monitor enrollment, matriculation, academic progress and assistantship activity. Need access to one of these systems? Contact the Graduate Center.

The Doctoral Tracking System (DTS) provides:

  • Details on current and former students pursuing doctoral degrees
  • Matriculation tracking and enrollment history
  • Progress through the dissertation process
  • Requests for dissertation advisement

The Assistantship Tracking System (ATS) provides:

  • Details on requested and allocated Graduate Assistant positions
  • Access to students interested in assistantship opportunities
  • Position recommendation and selection tools
  • Submission and management of job descriptions
  • Tracking for assistantship requests, approvals and assignments

Access ATS

The Matriculation Tracking System (MTS) includes:

  • Lists of actively matriculated graduate students in your program(s)
  • Information about each student’s matriculation status
  • Tools to enter program modifications
  • Options to substitute or waive courses, award transfer credit, add prerequisites or designate electives

Access MTS

The Enrollment Tracking System (ETS) provides:

  • Tools to understand and manage student enrollment status
  • Current semester enrollment details, including whether students are enrolled and which courses they are taking
  • Tracking for Continuous Matriculation, Comprehensive Exam courses, Leaves of Absence and Program Withdrawals
  • A “Not Enrolled” tool to document student outreach and support reporting to University partners
