Find Funding

The Office of Sponsored Programs provides the Montclair community with a variety of resources to help identify and secure external funding for research, scholarly activities, and sponsored programs. Among these resources are subscriptions to two comprehensive funding opportunity databases—Grants Resource Center (GRC) and Pivot—which enable faculty and staff to search for funding opportunities from federal agencies, foundations, corporations, and other sponsors.

FundingOpps Listserv

Faculty and staff can subscribe to the Office of Sponsored Programs' weekly funding opportunities listserv to receive a curated selection of external funding announcements delivered directly to their inbox. Each edition highlights a broad range of opportunities from federal agencies, foundations, corporations, and other sponsors that may be of interest to the Montclair community. The listserv is designed to help researchers stay informed about new and recurring funding opportunities across a variety of disciplines and program areas, making it easier to identify potential sources of support for research, scholarly, creative, and educational initiatives.

Grants.gov

Grants.gov is the federal government's centralized portal for locating and applying for grant opportunities across more than 1,000 federal assistance programs. The website provides access to funding opportunities from numerous federal agencies, allowing researchers and project teams to search for opportunities by keyword, agency, category, or eligibility. In addition to funding announcements, Grants.gov offers application packages, submission guidance, and resources to help applicants navigate the federal grant application process. Faculty and staff are encouraged to use Grants.gov to identify potential funding opportunities and to coordinate with the Office of Sponsored Programs when preparing and submitting federal grant proposals.

Focused Funding Opportunity Lists

OSP has curated the following funding opportunity collections to help faculty and staff quickly identify opportunities aligned with common research and institutional priorities:

  • New and Young Faculty – Funding opportunities designed to support early-career investigators and new faculty members as they establish independent research programs, develop scholarly agendas, and compete for external funding.
  • Equipment, Instrument Acquisition, and Facilities Improvement – Opportunities that provide support for the purchase or upgrade of research equipment and instrumentation, as well as the development, renovation, or enhancement of research and educational facilities.
  • Minority-Serving Institutions – Funding opportunities specifically intended for Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) and programs that promote research, education, workforce development, and institutional capacity building.
