Graduate Quartet Residency
The Cali School’s Graduate Quartet Residency offers an intensive, fully supported experience for an emerging string quartet ready to grow as artists, collaborators, and performers. Residents work within a dedicated quartet studio, receive regular coachings with faculty and the Quartet in Residence, and continue their individual development through weekly private lessons.
The residency includes full tuition and a $8,000 annual stipend, giving graduate students the time, space, and mentorship to focus deeply on chamber music at a high level.

Students have had the opportunity to hear and work alongside an extraordinary roster of guest artists through recent performances on campus and at Merkin Concert Hall in New York City. Highlights have included Kronos Quartet, Caroline Shaw, Decoda Ensemble, Cavani Quartet, Rhiannon Giddens, Rob Kapilow’s What Makes It Great, JACK Quartet, Charles Yang and Peter Dugan, Christian McBride, Harlem Quartet, Rahzel, Jon B, and James Blachly—bringing students into direct contact with some of today’s most distinctive voices in classical, contemporary, jazz, and cross-genre performance.
