Music History

At the Cali School of Music, Music History courses help students understand music as a living part of culture, creativity, and human experience. Students build listening and research skills while exploring musical traditions, historical movements, composers, performers, and the many ways music reflects and shapes the world around us.

Taught by Cali faculty, these courses support music majors as they deepen the context for their artistic and academic work, while also welcoming students from across the University into the study of music. The result is a thoughtful, engaging learning environment where students expand their perspective and connect musical study to history, identity, community, and the arts.
