Red Hawk Advantage Award
Free Tuition Opportunity for Eligible New Jersey Students
The Red Hawk Advantage Award provides up to four semesters of free tuition and fees to eligible New Jersey students at Montclair State University or Bloomfield College.
If your family’s Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) is between $0 and $65,000 and your high school GPA is 3.0 or higher, you may qualify.
This program can significantly reduce or eliminate tuition costs.
Funding is based on annual University allocations.
Who Is Eligible
Students must:
- Be a New Jersey resident (including NJ Dream Act students)
- Complete the FAFSA or NJ Alternative Application
- Meet all NJ HESAA deadlines
- Have an AGI between $0 and $65,000
- Be working toward a first bachelor’s degree
- Have earned fewer than 60 credits
- Be enrolled full-time (12 credits or more)
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress
- Complete all verification/document requests
How the Award Works
The RHAA is a last-dollar grant.
It covers:
- Tuition
- Mandatory fees
After:
- Federal grants
- State grants
- Scholarships
How to be Considered
There is no separate application.
Students must:
- Submit FAFSA or NJ Alternative Application
- Meet all state deadlines
- Submit all requested documentation

- Covers fall and spring only
- Limited to four semesters
- Applies only to tuition and fees (not housing or other costs)
- Eligibility ends at 60 credits
