Freshmen/Transfer Students

To reserve your place at Montclair, simply submit the New Student Deposit in your Accepted Student Portal

Other payment options (including bank/wire transfer) are available using PayMyTuition. (Note: you must use your CWID preceded by the letter “M”. Example: M12345678)

Deposit Deadline:

  • Fall: May 1st for freshmen or if requesting on-campus housing, otherwise June 1st
  • Spring: December 15th

Graduate Students

To reserve your place at Montclair, simply submit the graduate student enrollment deposit in the Next Steps tab of your admissions portal.

Deposit Deadline: 

  • Fall: July 1st ** (or May 1st if requesting on-campus housing)
  • Spring: December 1st** 

**Note that some competitive programs may require an earlier deposit. Please follow the instructions and deadline noted on your letter of admission.**

On-Campus Housing Fee

  • If you are planning to live on campus, you may also submit your housing application fee* at this time. Once your new student deposit and housing application fee are processed, you may complete the online Housing Application. Detailed information about the housing selection process will be sent to your Montclair email when available.
     
  • *On-campus housing for the fall semester is guaranteed for students who have paid their housing application fee by May 1. Housing for the fall semester is available on a first-come, first-served basis for those who pay their housing application fee after May 1. Spring semester students interested in on-campus housing should submit the enrollment deposit and housing application fee as soon as possible after admission.

International Enrollment Deposit and Refund Information

  • The required enrollment deposit for all international students is $1,000. The deposit is credited toward payment of your first semester fees and is not an additional expense.
     
  • Deposits must be submitted no later than the dates noted above.
     
  • Enrollment deposits are non-refundable with three exceptions:
  1. The deposit is refundable if the student is denied a visa, provided that the student paid the SEVIS fee and applied for the visa using Montclair’s I-20.
  1. The deposit is refundable if the student paid the SEVIS fee using Montclair’s I-20 but is unable to secure a visa appointment in time to arrive for the start of the term.
  1. Students are from a country impacted by recent travel bans.
Important Dates and Deadlines:
  • All students must request a refund of the enrollment deposit by the add/drop deadline (approximately one week after the start of classes).
    • Students denied a visa or impacted by travel bans: May request a refund at any time, but no later than the add/drop deadline for the semester they were admitted to.
    • Students unable to obtain a visa appointment: May request a refund within the time frames noted below:
      • Fall semester students: between August 1 and the add/drop deadline (approximately one week after the start of classes)
      • Spring semester students: between January 1 and the add/drop deadline (approximately one week after the start of classes)
