Author's Chair Book Talk Series: Dr. Jessica Bacon

Join us for The Author’s Chair, a compelling book talk series hosted by the College for Education and Engaged Learning. This session features faculty author Dr. Jessica Bacon, who will present her latest work, Attaining a Just Future: Disability Studies Examines Curriculum and Transition for Students Labeled with Intellectual Disability (Myers Education Press 2026).

The book centers the experiences educators, administrators, transition specialists, and six young adults with ID labels, who, along with their families, were qualitatively interviewed with the goal of understanding the complexities of curriculum access and future planning. The book talk will discuss the importance of building person-centered and inclusive curricular experiences in schools and transition programs for students with intellectual disability. The book is a 2026 winner of the American Education Studies Association Critics Choice Book Award.
