The Program Impact Measures for the initial and advanced certification programs are presented below.

Measure 1. Completer Impact and Effectiveness

These data are provided by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) to each Educator Preparation Provider (EPP). The data presented below represents Montclair completers from the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 academic years that were reported by the NJDOE in 2026. The NJDOE reports the effectiveness data of program completes two years after graduation. This allows time to collect evaluation scores for the first two years of teaching.

New Jersey relies on multiple measures of performance to evaluate teachers. These measures include components of both student achievement and teacher practice. Student achievement is measured by Student Growth Percentiles (SGPs) and Student Growth Objectives (SGOs). SGPs are a measure of P-12 student gains on standardized test scores from one year to the next. Teachers set SGOs for their P-12 students at the start of the year and are assessed on whether those objectives are met at the end of the year.

Teacher practice is measured by performance on state-approved observation instruments and
results in a Teacher Practice Score (TPS). Scores are rated on a 1-4 scale (Ineffective, Partially Effective, Effective, Highly Effective). All New Jersey teachers receive a Summative Rating, which is an overall evaluation score that combines teacher practice and student achievement growth, created by compiling multiple measures, TPS, SGP, and SGO.
