Student Conduct helps you learn, grow, and take accountability.

The conduct process at Montclair is educational, consistent and equitable, designed to support your development while upholding community standards. When concerns arise, the goal is not just to address behavior, but to help you reflect, make informed decisions, and move forward.

What We Do

  • Review and resolve alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct
  • Address behavioral, academic, and student organization misconduct
  • Promote accountability through an educational approach
  • Support student learning, growth, and decision-making

Students who engage in behavior that does not align with the Code of Conduct may be subject to University action.

Student Conduct works closely with campus partners, including Residence Life and University Police, to uphold community standards and ensure a safe and respectful environment.

The Conduct Process

The student conduct process is how the University reviews and resolves concerns related to student behavior.
This process is:

  • Educational: We focus on learning and personal growth
  • Developmental: We encourage reflection and better decision-making
  • Fair and consistent: We ensure an equitable experience for all students

While outcomes may include disciplinary action, cases are resolved through conversations and reflection meant to support your success.
