Theater for Community Impact Class Does Work in Paterson: Visits Oasis and CUMAC for upcoming performance

Theater for Community Impact (THTR 384) recently worked in local Paterson, NJ. The class worked with groups at Oasis and CUMAC. They ultimately will be creating short plays inspired by the clients they spoke with, and these plays will be presented at the Muth Museum at Hinchcliffe Stadium in late April/early May.

Dr. Jessica Brater, Associate Professor in the Theatre and Dance department, is the instructor of the Theater for Community Impact class. Dr. Brater’s research aims to bring attention to art, artists, and audience communities, especially women, who have been underrepresented historically by theatre critics and scholars. Her work emphasizes the relationship between theatrical performance and social and political engagement.
