A Spooktacular Halloween Week at Bloomfield Campus Library!

This year, Bloomfield Campus Library went all out for Halloween week!

spooky book display

Student employee Iyssis came up with a phenomenal display to highlight the spookiest books and movies in our collection. Featured titles included the mega hit The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones, the classic Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, and movies like Hitchcock’s The Birds and Nosferatu. Shoutout to Iyssis for helping us get into the Spooky Season Spirit!

Senior Library Assistant Toshi Escoffery organized a series of free horror film screenings featuring Grave Encounters, Summerween, Little Shop of Horrors, and Train to Busan. Attendees also enjoyed free popcorn and snacks while taking in the spooky selections. These films, along with many others, are available to Montclair students, faculty, and staff through the libraries’ Kanopy streaming service.

Librarian Melissa John put together a scavenger hunt activity sheet. Students had to complete four tasks, such as writing down a call number to a book on witchcraft or using Kanopy to find a classic 1980s horror film. Everyone who successfully completed the hunt got a bag of Halloween candy.

Finally, Toshi and Principal Library Assistant Cynthia Walker offered an edible Halloween craft for students to enjoy. Offerings included the perennial favorite dirt cups (pudding, crushed up cookies, and gummy worms), and the surprisingly adorable spider Oreos. It was all treats, no tricks here at Bloomfield!
