Professor Grover Furr Publishes New Book on the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact

Grover Furr, professor in the Department of English, has published a new book, The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact Explained: The Soviet Struggle for an Anti-Nazi Alliance.

The book examines the diplomatic efforts leading up to the 1939 Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. Furr focuses on the Soviet Union’s attempts to establish a collective-security agreement with Britain, France and Poland in the years preceding World War II and argues that Western governments prioritized opposition to communism over confronting Nazi Germany.

Drawing on historical evidence, Furr examines the diplomatic negotiations of the period and the events surrounding the Nazi invasion of Poland and Germany’s subsequent invasion of the Soviet Union.
