Dr. Ethan Hein, Adjunct Faculty in the John J. Cali School of Music, has written a new article for MusicRadar exploring the music theory behind The Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” Drawing on his expertise in music theory, history, and songwriting, Hein examines the musical ideas behind the iconic song.

Hein holds a PhD in Music Education from New York University and has taught music theory, history, and songwriting at NYU. He is the lead designer of Groove Pizza, an interactive music-making platform, and co-author of Electronic Music School: A Contemporary Approach to Teaching Musical Creativity, published by Oxford University Press in 2021.
