The Andes Come to Montclair
CLaSE's Festival Celebrates Culture, Community, and Belonging
On October 10, CLaSE, in collaboration with the Folklife Center of Northern New Jersey, welcomed more than 500 attendees to the Festival de los Andes, celebrating the rich cultural and Indigenous heritage of six Andean countries. With 11 live performances, traditional music and dance, artisans, interactive workshops, and inspiring remarks from two Montclair State students and CHSS Dean Dr. Amy Thompson, the festival transformed campus into a vibrant space for cultural exchange, education, and community connection. The event reflects CLaSE's commitment to celebrating Latino and Indigenous heritage while strengthening relationships between the University and surrounding communities.
