Biography

Olivia Slaughter comes to Montclair State University from Kingston Gallery in Boston, Massachusetts, where they served as Gallery Manager, overseeing exhibitions, public programming, marketing initiatives, and daily operations for one of New England's longest-running artist cooperatives. They also served as an Adjunct-Professor at Lasell University, teaching photography and mentoring emerging artists through courses centered on visual storytelling and contemporary practice. Slaughter is an interdisciplinary artist, curator, and educator whose work explores identity, memory, and the lived experiences of Black, queer, and Jewish communities through photography, mixed media, and installation. Their work has been exhibited nationally and includes collaborations with the Institute of Contemporary Art Boston, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Harvard University, Vogue Italia, WBUR, Converse, Timberland, Nike and more. Slaughter holds a B.A. in Arts Management from Lasell University and has completed artist residencies at Harvard ArtLab and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
