Welcome to Montclair State University's Summer and Winter Sessions. Whether you are exploring your academic interests or looking for a flexible way to earn credits, Summer and Winter Sessions can help you move forward. These accelerated sessions make it easier to focus on one course at a time, complete a requirement, or create more room in your future schedule. Courses are available at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with options that may include in-person, hybrid and online.

Summer courses run in several different sessions throughout the summer and are open to Montclair State University students. Courses are typically offered in-person, fully online or hybrid (combination of on campus meetings and online coursework).

Tuition and Fees

The following Montclair State University undergraduate students must contact the Office of Admissions to determine eligibility to register for Winter Session or Summer Sessions:

  • Undergraduate students who are not enrolled for two consecutive fall or spring semesters prior to summer or winter session.
  • Newly admitted part-time undergraduate students.
  • All newly admitted transfer and readmitted students.

Summer Sessions

Montclair State University undergraduate students (who are not on the May graduation list) and graduate students who are enrolled for the spring semester, and are in good academic standing, are eligible to register for Summer Sessions. Undergraduate students who are on the May graduation list must be accepted for graduate study to become eligible to register for summer courses.

Winter Session

Montclair State University undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled for the fall semester, and are in good academic standing, are eligible to register for Winter Session. Registration is open!

Visiting Students

Summer and Winter Sessions welcomes students currently enrolled in good academic standing at a regionally accredited college or university other than Montclair State University.

Dates and Deadlines

Tuition and Fees

  • Complete your Undergraduate Visiting Student Information Form (no transcript required). Visiting Students and Non-degree Students must complete and submit the Visiting Student Information Form in order to be eligible to register for classes. Once the application is complete, a decision will be sent, via email, within 24-48 hours. Be sure to complete the form at least 3-days prior to the course start date in order to be eligible to register in time.
    • Visiting Student: An undergraduate student who is currently enrolled at an accredited college or university who DOES NOT have a degree.
    • Non-degree Student: An applicant who is not interested in pursuing an undergraduate degree but are interested in taking one or two credit-bearing courses.To qualify for non-degree admission, you must have received a high school diploma or its equivalency prior to you submitting your application.
  • Visiting Graduate Student Information Form
    Students who have completed a bachelor’s degree, general non-degree students or professional non-degree students. Visit the Graduate School for additional details on these student classifications.
     

After the online information form has been processed, you are eligible to register for open courses at any time after the registration period begins. Log into NEST to register.

You may pay your bill in person or online with cash, check, money order, E-check, or credit card. For information about our payment plans and paying your term bill, go to the payment options section of the Office of Student Accounts website.

Visiting students may purchase a parking permit for the winter session by visiting the Parking Services office.

Students registered at Montclair State University are required to carry a valid Montclair State University ID Card while on campus. The University ID Card is necessary for such things as borrowing library materials, admittance into residence halls, dining facilities, computer labs, pool, gym, participating in student activities, and residence meal plans.
