Membership

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) at Montclair is composed of faculty, staff, and community representatives from departments across the university who bring diverse expertise and perspectives to the ethical review of human subjects research. Together, members play a vital role in protecting the rights, welfare, and privacy of research participants by providing independent oversight and ensuring compliance with applicable federal regulations, ethical principles, and institutional policies.

The IRB Chair leads the review of research involving human participants to help ensure it is conducted ethically and follows applicable regulations. The Chair also oversees IRB meetings and provides guidance to researchers and IRB members.

IRB Chair: Sarah Kelly

IRB members review research proposals to help ensure the rights and welfare of research participants are protected. They discuss studies during IRB meetings, vote on research approvals, and help ensure research is conducted ethically and in compliance with applicable regulations.
