The PSEG Institute for Sustainability Studies (PSEG ISS) is a local leader in the sustainability space, supporting trans-disciplinary research, community projects, workforce development, and outreach and education to address sustainability needs both locally and globally. Through partnerships with New Jersey-based and multi-national corporations and organizations, PSEG ISS implements sustainability initiatives focused on topics ranging from climate change, emissions, and energy, to waste, clean water, and food insecurity. Apply to the 2027 Green Teams Program!
Are you an undergraduate student with an interest in sustainability looking for an impactful and unique summer internship experience? Look no further than the PSEG ISS Green Teams Program! Our application for the 2027 program cycle is now open and we welcome applications from rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors across STEM, social science, humanities, and business who have a passion for addressing today's sustainability challenges.
Application requirements include:
- Completion of the online form,
- 3 short-answer essay responses
- Your most recent academic transcript
- Clear indication of authorization to work in the US
- Contact information for 3 references

2026 Student Symposium on Sustainability Sciences (4S)
The PSEG Institute for Sustainability Studies is hosting the inaugural Student Symposium on Sustainability Science (4S) on October 13, 2026 in partnership with the the Student Conference on Conservation Science (SCCS) hosted by the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation (CBC) at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. This one-day event will showcase student research focused on sustainability science, applications, outreach and education, and provide attendees with networking opportunities and access to SCCS events taking place October 14-16, 2026.

PSEG ISS In The News
PSEG ISS Governor's Environmental Excellence Award
Last year, the PSEG Institute for Sustainability Studies was honored to received a Governor's Environmental Excellence Award from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, which recognizes outstanding environmental performance, programs, and projects in New Jersey.
As a follow-up to this award, new PSEG ISS Director, Dr. Alex Moore, was invited to speak on the work of the Institute and what it means to be awarded a GEEA. Please see the included video to learn more about our work, along with that of two other prominent awardees, Erin Colfax of Unity Charter School and Margaret Waldock of Duke Farms.

Mission
The PSEG Institute for Sustainability Studies’ mission is to advance sustainability by developing community-engaged research projects and building educational programs through academic-corporate-public partnerships.
Principles
The PSEG Institute for Sustainability Studies advances local and global sustainability, including overcoming environmental and climate-related issues. The Institute provides access to education and careers related to these fields, and guides all individuals and their pursuit of sustainable access to and use of environmental resources. We promote a work environment that is fully inclusive, antiracist, and supportive of all peoples working with and for PSEG ISS. We support our students in all of their work, identities, values, and beliefs. The PSEG Institute for Sustainability Studies has no tolerance for hate or violence.
