Finding Factors and Multiples
The class worked on the “before the lesson assessment task” prior to the lesson. Students spent a class and a half on the whole-class discussion with sample student responses and the collaborative small-group work. The sample response for “Aga” was modified to reflect a strategy students learned in class nicknamed “the upside down birthday cake” which uses the area model to determine either the GCF or LCM of a pair of numbers.
