The Theatre Collective

The Theatre Collective’s mission is to showcase theatrical works featuring diverse voices and creative storytelling. The Theatre Collective is committed to producing theater that is script, story, and acting driven with scaled-down technical elements. The Theatre Collective strives to showcase students in all roles found in a theater company and to provide opportunities for growth and development.

The Theatre Collective is a student-led company within the Department of Theatre and Dance. TTC primarily produces shows in studio 0325 in Life Hall. Our goal when selecting shows is to shed light on topics that are meaningful to our general body. TTC is run by BA Theatre Studies students, however, Montclair students from any academic discipline are welcome to get involved. This includes opportunities to perform, pitch and direct shows, stage manage, design for shows (light, sound, costumes, etc.), and much more!

What Do We Do?

Each season (Fall and Spring) will comprise of several productions of either director proposed published shows, published shows selected by TTC’s executive board, and student written shows, all of which directors can then apply to direct; and in the Spring, an evening of New Play Readings, featuring unpublished, student-written works from the New Play Incubator course. The Theatre Collective’s productions will be held in Life Hall 0325 and one Mainstage show will be produced on campus. The Theatre Collective prioritizes diverse voices and performance opportunities in all productions. Productions in 0325 are required to have no more than 6 actors, minimal technical elements, and at least 75% of each production must be made up of B.A. Students.  Mainstage productions must have no more than 15 actors, a maximum run time of 90 minutes, and 75% of each production must be made up of B.A. students.
