Graduation, Transcripts and Grades
From applying to graduate to requesting transcripts and checking your grades, most actions are completed in NEST but here is the information you need to know!
Who Should Apply to Graduate?
All students completing program requirements for degrees, teacher certification or certificates must complete the Application to Graduate through NEST.
Once the application is submitted, the Office of the Registrar will review your academic record to ensure program requirements have been met to clear you for program completion. Then, you will receive emails about your graduation status and attending commencement for degree-seeking students. After applying, additional coursework is not permitted unless you are approved for a new program
When to Apply to Graduate
- Summer (August 2026) Graduation: Apply between April 1, 2026 - August 14, 2026
- Winter (January 2027) Graduation: Apply between May 1, 2026 - November 13, 2026
- Spring (May 2027) Graduation: Apply between November 2, 2026 - March 15, 2027
Important: Graduation is the certified completion of your degree, certificate or certification’s program requirements. It is not a ceremony. When you apply for graduation, you are NOT registering for Commencement. This is a different process.
It is the student’s responsibility to apply for graduation or completion of all programs of study prior to the final term of completion and prior to being eligible to sign up to attend Commencement, which is a ceremony to celebrate your achievements.
Ready to Graduate?

- Students with Holds: Cannot access their transcripts until the hold(s) is resolved.
- Former Bloomfield College of Montclair State University students (or Bloomfield students who attended prior to January 1, 2025 and are not currently enrolled): Use the BC Clearinghouse website to request transcripts.
- NJ DOE Certification Applicants: To ensure the successful delivery of your official transcript to certapplication@doe.nj.gov, on the "Transcript and Delivery Details” page click the “Department” field, choose “Not in List” and hit “Continue” and specify the exact email address you were provided on the next page.
Unofficial transcripts are available for current students and may be downloaded at any time through your NEST account. Students who have a hold cannot access their unofficial transcript.
Proof of Completion
If your degree has not yet been posted, you may request a Statement of Completion, which can be used for employment or further education.
